His work probably did more to foster the reading and appreciation of U. He almost gets a grasp of the Dostoyevsky realm but his mistake is what he has to say is on the surface, very technical and dry.

One thing I really loathed was Pavese Reading diaries of real dead people has always made me uncomfortable, leaving me with the sense that I’m peeking into someone’s life and soul, the inner workings of a brain that I have no acquaintance with.
